If you answered YES to the question, “Are you ready to start your marketplace ministry,” then you are in the right place. For the rest of April, I’ll be writing and speaking about everything you need to get started (or to take the next step if you have already started), and how to create a plan to sustain your MIB.
People spend most of their alert, sharp-minded energy at work. It’s time to capture that valuable time for a more significant experience than business politics, competition, and income. Of course, there is nothing wrong with the elements of a good business and career experience, but we’re going to help you take it over the top with meaningful experiences that capture your spiritual gifts while you fulfill your business goals.
In my marketplace ministry, that’s what I call a Ministry in Business (MIB), I enjoy a great opportunity to make a difference in the life of others. I am fulfilling my God-given call in an environment that also allows me to excel financially. That’s right. There is a way to have your ministry AND your business in the same place.
I talk to so many people who have dreams of serving in a ministry and having a business, but they run into problems like:
-
How can I make enough money?
-
It’s hard to decide if a non-profit is right for me?
-
What type of business should I do?
-
I need up front money.
-
Should I quit my job?
-
I want to do it, but I’m too stressed out to start something.
-
Should I partner with a church?
-
Are there any groups that I can join?
-
I need help on the business side.
-
I need help on the ministry side.
-
I’m just not sure it’s right for me.
-
I’m too young
-
I’m too old
-
Can I do it at my job even if I don’t own a business?
I wish I could tell you that I have answers to all of your concerns, but of course, I don’t. However, I do have solutions that will put you on the path to find the answers that you seek. Every situation is different and will require various steps and timing to reach your goals.
That’s why the Extra Life is here!
Can tell you that when you move forward, in spite of the problems, AND if God has called you to move, HE has a plan?
Yes! He does.
So, let’s do this. For your first step, start dreaming. Don’t ask how it can be done. Just write down what you would like to do. You can start with a business or a ministry. Then, I will help you add the second part. What’s important is for you to decide what difference you want to make, and how you will benefit others.
Consider your gifts and talents. Think about your career goals. Include your financial obligations, vacation, debt, and what you need to make a difference for others.
Create a document listing the possibilities.
Now, start praying about how God wants to use you as you start your MIB.
