Doing The Things You Love at Work and Home

Doing the things you love at work and home is a key marker that you are living well. It’s not enough to wait to get home or go to church to enjoy life, not when you spend 40 plus hours at work. You were born with personality, talent, and spiritual gifts that need to be used. It’s what makes you special – unlike anyone else. Since you spend most of your time working it makes sense to do the things you love at work and home, even before you start your marketplace ministry.

That means looking for ways to merge what you love into the work environment. Start by identifying what matters to you. Consider things like authentic relationships, being around people who care about each other, growth and meaning in your daily activity, and making a difference in the life of others.

Then find ways to add meaning to the work that you are currently doing using what matters to you as a guide.

What should you do?

  1. What gives you the most satisfaction? Even when it’s not easy you still feel good when you do this activity.
  2. When you make a to-do list, what do you like to do firstThe thing you love will usually come first. That’s where you will give more of yourself and be more creative and productive.
  3. If you had to work for 60 hours in one week, what money-making activity would you do? Why?

When you discover what you want to do, don’t delay. Even if it’s not a part of your current work culture, find small ways that you can create your own culture while doing a great job. Who knows, maybe you’ll start something that others will follow.

Enjoy Life Now!

Life is too short to hate how you spend your time every day. With a few adjustments, you can find ways to make your activities meaningful and start doing the things you love at work and home.

Take a few small steps and set the standard for others too.
