Algorithm for Success

Creating Your Personal Algorithm for Success

Algorithms are all around us. From social media platforms to government agencies and news outlets, these programming strategies execute specific orders to produce desired results based on data from your online activity. They observe your habits, then target their ads and other responses to get you to behave a certain way. Creating Your Personal Algorithm for Success takes the same principle and applies it to your personal life and what you want to accomplish. What you do determines what you get.

There are certain behaviors that are like an algorithm for success – small steps that, when combined in a certain order, have a high probability of producing the desired results. When you put the behaviors together, you can predict your outcomes with a high level of accuracy. You just need to identify which behaviors lead to your desired outcome. The good news about this approach is that you don’t have to worry about the outcome, you just focus on the behavior. The outcome is a natural result of the new behavior.

To help you out, here are some of my coaching topics that help friends develop their own algorithm for success. Consider your personal areas of need (because everyone’s situation is different). The order of your need depends on what is happening in your life. There is always room to grow, even if you are already familiar with an area.

Want to press harder? Choose up to three topics. I suggest no more than three. We take ten months to cover these topics in the MIB emPOWERment Coaching Cohort.

After choosing your topics, review the list of behaviors below and find the top three behaviors that fit with your coaching topic. I do not recommend over three new behaviors at one time. Once you manage three and create new habits, you can add more to your plan.

New Behaviors for Creating Your Personal Algorithm for Success:

  1. Put your plan in writing
  2. Wake Up early
  3. Exercise at the beginning of your day
  4. Spend some time meditating at the beginning of your day
  5. Pray every day
  6. Limit the amount of access that you give others. Check messages only a few times a day
  7. Become a learner
  8. Get quality sleep
  9. Rebrand yourself
  10. Increase your self care
  11. Find new ways to connect with others
  12. Evaluate your progress regularly
  13. Listen to three or more podcasts daily in an area of your desired growth
  14. Do something new every week
  15. Express thankfulness daily
  16. Start writing Morning Pages
  17. Celebrate minor victories
  18. Keep a schedule
  19. Show up to places where people don’t expect.
  20. Remove all excuses
  21. Keep a journal
  22. Tackle your hardest tasks first
  23. Join a group that helps you connect with like-minded people
  24. Listen to upbeat, worship music
  25. Remove all electric devices from your grip after 7:00 pm (or choose your own time)
  26. Listen to positive voices and shut off negativity

Once you select your top three new behaviors, put them in order of importance with the coaching topic you selected.

Next, journal (at least one page) about the new behaviors you selected.

Why is this area a struggle?

What made you choose this behavior?

How will it make you feel when the behavior becomes a habit?

Now the last step for Creating Your Personal Algorithm for Success. Take what you learned from your writing and encourage yourself!

  • Find A Bible Verse

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. (Proverbs 3:5-6)

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9)

  • Embrace God Grace

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. (2 Corinthians 12:8-9)

  • Move forward, make adjustments and keep moving forward.

Friends, this strategy works! Your personal algorithm for success not only gets you where you want to be, but helps you enjoy a more fulfilled and purposeful life. That’s what it’s all about, right?

Let me know about your success in the comments. I am praying for you!
