How to Make Money Doing What You Love

Wouldn’t it be great to do what you love and get paid for it? I can’t promise that it will make you rich, but I do believe, if you are creative enough, you can figure out how to make money doing what you love.

With so many people looking for ways to make extra money by choosing the right side hustle, we know something is going on. The cost of living is going up faster that our paychecks (which is actually declining), and we can’t sit and do nothing. At the same time, the pressures that some corporate careers bring is also difficult to handle – at least for the long term.

So what can you do?

Create a financial balance.

It’s great to have a career and get a check, benefits, and time off. But it’s also good to have back-up income to hold you just in case you leave your job sooner that you planned.

Here’s an example. . .

I love to help people make life better.  So, in my insurance company, I meet people face to face and we talk about money, saving, and insurance. We also talk about life, family, and whatever is important to the person. I don’t just talk about business, I make new friends. We share life stories. We hope together. That’s what I love to do.

If you operate with creativity and passion and point it to a reason or a cause, amazing things happen.

Now, let’s put it all together.

What do you love to do?

Cook?

Write?

Exercise?

Watch sports?

Now, ask your self – How can I make this activity easier for people who like the same thing? If it’s cooking – how can I make it easy to follow a recipe? If it’s writing – how can I sell what I write (that’s the easy one)? If it’s exercise – what can I do to help others get in shape? If it’s watching sports – what can I do for people to make it even more exciting to watch sports? To get ideas, interview people you know, and ask them these questions.

Take your time and begin to research the market and competition. (you have to figure out if your business will really make money).

There are plenty places online, starting with the Small Business Administration, that will help you take an idea and turn it into a business.

The key is to find your passion, and seek creative ways to turn it into a business. Then, take the same passion and do your research so you can successfully make money doing what you love.

Here’s a final example? I’m passionate about helping people start a marketplace ministry and use creativity to live a vibrant and purposeful life, overcoming obstacles and maximizing their potential in business and ministry.  I use my passion to help people thrive in the marketplace and be an example in the culture.

I also write books and speak about marketplace ministry, lead a small group of women in business and ministry, and did I mention I also serve at my local church?

(Yes, I know that’s busy, but that’s what passion will do and it’s all good!)

By the way, I charge for all speaking engagements. I am an educator, I earn commission in my insurance and financial planning business. I also have 2 books being released in the next year. That’s how I pay the bills and fuel these things that I’m passionate about. Yes, I’m busy, but I love what I do.

What are you passionate about? Now activate your creativity and think of a service or product that compliments your area of passion and get the ball rolling.
