Praying for God to Elevate You? Be Ready

Rhonda Ware Williams Marketplace MinistryIf you are praying for God to elevate you and change your life, you need to stay ready for Him to bless you.

You never know when God will send a great opportunity your way. When you think all you need is one more step, God is looking for six more steps. You think you’re not ready, but God says, “Today.” His ways are not our ways and His thoughts are not ours (Isaiah 55: 8-9).

When it comes to your elevation, it won’t happen until God says you are ready. While you wait, seek to understand what God wants. When you understand how He wants you prepare, then you can diligently press to be ready and stay ready.

Check out these examples of how God elevates you and why it’s important to be ready.

Example #1 – Praying for the money to further your education

Suppose you have been praying and fasting for God to provide a way to pay your college tuition. While enjoying a sporting event, you hear a conversation that sparks your interest. As the crowd calms down, a woman next to you says to her friend, “I’m managing a college scholarship fund and I don’t have enough candidates. My recommendations are due tomorrow and I still haven’t found a qualified recipient.” Would you be able to introduce yourself in a way that positions your for the scholarship? Do you already have the grades, community service hours and some good character recommendations? If not, perhaps God is not answering the prayer today because you are not ready today. Instead of just praying for God to bless you, pray and ask Him how you can be ready.

Example #2 – Praying for God to give you a larger platform

What if you were a dancer seeking a larger stage to showcase your talent and advance your dancing career. As you are enjoying dinner with friends, you hear a man at the table say, “Our final audition for the National Dance Team is tomorrow, but I’m really not satisfied with the candidates.” Would you be ready to ask for the opportunity to audition? Would you be ready for an audition tomorrow? Do you have your resume complete? Are you in shape for a rigorous schedule? Are you ready for God to answer your prayer?

God doesn’t want you to wait until he blesses you to get ready. You prepare before He makes a move. That gets you ready, not only for the benefits of your promotion, but also for the responsibility and the challenges that every promotion brings.

Here are a few more ways to be ready for God to answer your prayer for elevation:

  1. Be ready by practicing your elevator language. This is a short description about you that sells your skills. You should be able to naturally say it to a person who has very little time, but is listening at the moment.
  2. Be ready and deliver your talent with passion. God gave you gifts and talent and He wants the greatest return on what He gives. Read Matthew 25:14-30. See how God expects His people to multiply what He gives, and how he rewards those who are ready.
  3. Be ready with the right credentials and experience. Fortunately, God has given us all that we need in the Scriptures to study and enjoy a vibrant relationship with Him (a formal study program is still very beneficial ) However, in the culture, you need to compete with other standards that require a different kind of education. Get what you need to become an expert in your field.

To be ready, keep learning and getting better at your skill. Find a mentor, podcast, website and whatever you need to grow and be better than people around you.

Spend the time perfecting your talent. Allow your small victories to prepare you for a greater future. It may take longer than you planned but the wait is a perfect opportunity for you to be ready when God is ready.  Don’t wait to get ready. Be ready now! Then, when God is ready to elevate you, all you have to do is step in.

Life favors the prepared and if you are prepared life will favor you!
